October in Tuscany Forever

Tuscany in autumn is less crowded than in the summer but, more importantly, this season recalls to the original tradition of the region: food, wine and culture.

     1.Wine & Olivies

September and October are the months of wine and olives harvest, A visit in a vineyard is a must-see experience and there are plenty of them in the neighborhood to choose.

      2. Montescudaio DOC wine festival –

Montescudaio produces its own “doc’ wine. This is widely celebrated in the whole city with music, free degustation of wine and local food. 

When : 1st weekend of October

3. DOMENICALMUSEO –

 7th of October is  a free-admission time when museums in Pisa, Florence , Siena and the archeological sites in Tuscany are opened to the public.

Museums in Siena and Pisa are normally very crowded. This is your chance to admire them without hassle.

4. Palio dei Cacci 

This funny event represents a traditional signature of an medieval discipline cultivated by Volterra inhabitants.

The challenge is to get a “caccio” (in form of a piece of cheese) to its destination along the track using sticks.

When: 28th of October, Sunday

5. Volterra-Gustothis yearly exhibition of local wine and food producers is a tasteful event you cannot miss if you are around.

When: 27th October to 4th of  November
